Philosophy

Structure Breeds FreedomOff-leash training doesn’t mean chaos. It’s quite the opposite. A dog that knows true freedom first needs to learn true structure and boundaries. A good trainer and leader will show the dog that the two go hand-in-hand.Speaking the LanguageDogs don’t speak English. And they never will. So we have to get creative to speak their language while teaching them ours. What Is Conditioning?Operant conditioning, classical conditioning, rewards, reinforcements, corrections. If it seems overwhelming, then I agree - it can be. Luckily we live in a golden age of information and experiential wisdom on canines and training processes. I’ve tapped in to as much as possible and have a system that works well, resulting in trained dogs but, more importantly, happy dogs. I try to stay as flexible as possible, aiming to be a better trainer with each passing day. Each One Teach OneDogs teach each other faster than we could ever imagine teaching them. The pack walks aren’t just for fun. It’s a place where proper socialization and key obedience is reinforced in a way that is nearly impossible any other way.Transparency and GuaranteesIf I fail to meet outlined expectations in training, I either work for free until those expectations are met or return any and all fees collected. The evaluations up front are key - it’s my responsibility to evaluate the dog, the situation, and my skills, leading to what should be a relatively accurate outlook for a training program.Transparency is of utmost importance. None of my methods are a big secret. I’ll tell you all about them, where I learned them, and can show you how to do it if you’d like to get results on your own. And, most importantly, you’ll see how happy your dog is.

About Old Mountain Dogs

Andrew and Naima live near Agamenticus mountain and enjoy chasing balls, soaking up the sun, and logging however many miles it takes to catch a good view. They can be found on the porch with their family, watching the sun set behind the mountain.Andrew spent far too long in Boston as a full time musician, though he's much better suited to life in the woods. He still performs regularly and loves to teach others the ins and outs of making music.
